Deputy Governor is a strong chestnut standing 16.0h with a white blaze. His powerful physique and masculine handsome head is combined with a kind eye. Attributes he passes on to his progeny along with a good temperament and excellent conformation.

Having commenced stud duties in 1989 Deputy Governor has made his presence felt here in New Zealand through well known 'classic winners' such as Zirna, Clear Rose, Hero and Leica Guv, in Australia where he has sired over 30 individual winners from as many starters and in recent years throughout Asia. He has sired many outstanding racehorses including the Hong Kong Derby Winner "Holy Grail" the well performed Dashing Winner and Malaysian based "Strength'N'Honour".

Deputy Governor is one of New Zealand's most consistent producers of well performed thoroughbreds, and based on the statistics provided in the 2002 Stallion Register:
* is sire of 9 Group 1 winners (including Gp1 HK Derby) and 20 Stakes Winners
* produces one stakes winner in every 13 starters
* is ranked 5th highest producer of Group 1 horses in NZ
