Set in the heart of the lush Waikato grasslands in New Zealand is Chequers Stud.

Privately owned and operated by Jim Campin. Situated near Cambridge (population 14,300) and just 150 klms south of Auckland's International airport. Only two hours driving time to the popular heart of snow skiing and trout fishing.

First established in 1970, the original farm was in dairying before converting to what is now the largest producer of Group One winners in New Zealand.

Prior to the 2001 New Zealand National Yearling sales, Chequers Stud launched their latest video titled "Three decades of breeding excellence". The back cover lists a full page of Group One races that have been won across the globe, yes, none other than with Chequers bred thoroughbreds.

The list of Group One winners has again increased since the 2001 yearling sales, from 33 Group One winners to now being thirty-five Group One winners bred by the farm. Since January this year 'Sale of Century' by Prized out of the Deputy Governor mare Trio won the Group One AJC Darley Guineas and Tapildo by Rhythm out of the Sir Tristram mare Emulate won the Group One New Zealand Oaks.
