Ishiguru is an outstanding individual standing 16.0h in height, an impressive type, with a very masculine head, excellent conformation and strong overall presence which we have seen in his first crop of foals in England Ishiguru was Danzig's most expensive yearling of 1999 when he was knocked down to leading bloodstock buyer Demi O'Byrne for $US1.15 million at the prestigious Keenland July sales. Trained by Aidan O'Brien, Ishiguru was a top class sprinter winning his maiden by 11 lengths as a two year old , this achieving the time form rating of 114 and went on to win the Group III Miller Flying Stakes at Leopardstown as a three year old. At the same age, he also won the listed Belgrave stakes. O'Brien commented:” He has blinding speed and I rate him very highly”. Ishiguru boasts an outstanding sire's pedigree. He has two strong lines of Mr Prospector close up. His sire line has been a huge success throughout the world and his dam was a top class racehorse that has proved herself at stud. Ishiguru's sire, Danzig is not only the sire of the world's most successful shuttle stallion Danehill (sire of 58 individual Group 1 winners and 249 stakes winners world wide) but also of Chiefs Crown, Anabaa, Agnes World, Green Desert etc (sire of Sunline's sire Desert Sun and three times champion New Zealand sire Volksraad. Ishiguru's dam is the brilliant juvenile filly, Strategic Maneuver. She was the winner of five starts as a two year old including the Group 1 Spinaway stakes over six furlongs and the group 1 Matron Stakes over seven furlongs. Not only has Strategic Maneuver been the dam of Ishiguru but she has also left the group two winner, Cat Fighter. This sister to Ishiguru has been in outstanding form this season and at the Thoroughbred Corp. dispersal sale recently, Cat Fighter topped the sale bringing U.S. $1,350,000 “This family is hot”. Chequers will be standing Ishiguru in his 07 season at $7500 plus G.S.T.
